NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SOLOMON ISLANDS PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Barrett Salato, the new Permanent Representative of Solomon Islands to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Mr. Salato served as Chargé d’affaires at the Permanent Mission of Solomon Islands to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 2014 to 2018. He was the Director of the External Trade Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands from 2012 to 2014.

Mr. Salato served in 2011 as Acting Director of Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, and as Acting Deputy Director of Trade from 2009 to 2010. For five years before that, he was the Senior Trade Officer responsible for multilateral trade issues at the Ministry.

Mr. Salato has a Bachelor degree from the University of the South Pacific (1999 to 2003) and a Diploma in the World Trade Organization’s Regional Trade Policy from the University of Hong Kong (2006). He was born on 29 September 1976 and is married.
