NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE GAMBIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Yusupha Alieu Kah, the new Permanent Representative of The Gambia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Mr. Kah served as The Gambia’s Ambassador to France from August 2014 to August 2015, with concurrent accreditation to Hungary, Romania and Switzerland, and as Permanent Representative of The Gambia to the United Nations Office at Geneva and to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Paris. He served as The Gambia’s Ambassador to Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Commission from October 2002 to August 2005, with concurrent accreditation to the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovak Republic, and as Permanent Representative of The Gambia to the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Secretariat in Brussels, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague, the World Trade Organization in Geneva, the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, the International Fund for Agricultural Development in Rome, and the World Food Programme in Rome.

Mr. Kah served as Minister of Works, Construction and Infrastructure of The Gambia from January to March 2011, Minister of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment from July 2010 to January 2011, as Minister of Economic Planning and Industrial Development from February to July 2010, and as Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment from September 2009 to February 2010. He started his career in 1983 working as a Budget Officer/Planner at the Ministry of Economic Planning and Industrial Development, and has also worked in various Government Ministries as well as the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President.

Mr. Kah has a Master of Science in economic policy and planning from North Eastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, United States (1985-1986) and a Bachelor of Science in business administration and management, Lewis Clark State College, Lewiston, Idaho, United States (1980-1982). He is married.
