Belize has not Submitted a Report since it Ratified the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in 1996
The Human Rights Committee today reviewed how Belize implements the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in the absence of a report. The Secretary of the Committee, Kate Fox, said Belize had stated it would be absent due to issues of finance.

The Human Rights Committee this afternoon held a discussion on working methods on a proposal to request additional resources and on the agenda for its retreat to The Hague in April 2013.

The Human Rights Committee this afternoon held a brief public meeting in which it heard an oral report from Committee Expert Krister Thelin, the Rapporteur on follow-up to views.
Mr. Thelin said it had been impossible to prepare a normal progress report because of budget constraints and staffing, but he applauded the secretariat for improvising.
