The Human Rights Council this afternoon held separate interactive dialogues with Ahmed Shaheed, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, and with Yanghee Lee, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar.

BAHRAIN JOINS THE CONVENTION ON CERTAIN CONVENTIONAL WEAPONS

On 11 March 2016, Bahrain joined the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) and its Protocol III on Incendiary Weapons, Protocol IV on Blinding Laser Weapons and Protocol V on Explosive Remnants of War. Bahrain is now the 122nd State Party to the CCW.
Ambassador Tehmina Janjua of Pakistan, President-designate of the Convention’s Fifth Review Conference, welcomed Bahrain to the CCW. She added that Bahrain has demonstrated its commitment to international humanitarian law by joining the CCW, and hoped for the early universalization of the Convention.
